Air source heat pumps

Low-carbon heating and hot water, designed around your property rather than rules of thumb. We size every air source heat pump from a heat loss calculation so it performs as promised.
How an air source heat pump works
An air source heat pump extracts heat from outside air and upgrades it to heat your radiators, underfloor heating and hot water cylinder. For every unit of electricity used it delivers several units of heat, which is why it is one of the most efficient ways to heat a building.
Designed, not guessed
We carry out a room-by-room heat loss calculation, check radiator and pipework suitability, size the unit and cylinder, and agree flow temperatures that keep the system efficient. Where radiators need upgrading to run at lower temperatures, we say so up front.

FAQ
Common questions
Are air source heat pumps suitable for my home?
Most well-insulated properties are suitable. A heat loss calculation tells us what size of system is needed and whether any radiators or insulation upgrades would help.
Do heat pumps work in cold weather?
Yes. Modern air source heat pumps work in sub-zero temperatures, with efficiency falling slightly as it gets colder. Correct sizing is what keeps the house warm.
Can a heat pump also cool?
Some systems offer cooling as well. Air-to-air systems (air conditioning) heat and cool single rooms, which can be a more affordable route in some properties. We’ll advise which suits you.
Are grants available?
Funding schemes change over time and have eligibility criteria. We can tell you what applies to your property when we quote.
